Why I Started Provisional:

My name is Samuel Herb and 2020 has been a crazy year. At the beginning of this year, things were looking really exciting for my music career. I was going through a hot streak of writing, I was offered the opening slot on a tour that had over 20 dates, I SOLD OUT a headlining show in Nashville, my monthly listeners on streaming platforms continued to grow, and I just received the ever elusive social media verifications. This all came after my first full year of touring playing over 70 shows in 19 different states.

I was on my way to play a show in Toronto, ON, Canada, FREAKING CANADA (Mr. Worldwide over here), and BOOM. Canceled. Then everything I’d worked for over a 6-month period of time, BOOM. Canceled. The beginning of panic and a pandemic in the United States.

Like most 27-year-old singer/songwriters, I didn’t have a huge amount of backup cash, I don’t have health insurance, and ALL of my income was just wiped out, completely. Luckily, I was able to put the dog in the car and drive 9 hours to my parents house for quarantine.

I spent days doing absolutely nothing. I went for long walks, contemplated my purpose on this planet, argued with Facebook friends about politics, I even tried to “date” people that I wouldn’t be able to see in-person for a LONG time; I was lost.

I am fortunate enough to work with an amazing custom hat company named DOME Headwear Co. for my music merchandise and they happen to be from my hometown. We got to talking and since my music career was on hold, they offered me a sales and business development position that would help fund my music and propel me to making a difference in the world around me.

This year I have brought my handicap back down to a 2.9 (as of 12/8/20) and played more golf in the last 9 months than I have in the last 5 years. It has been great to fall back in love with the game and I hope I can spread the love with Provisional.

DOME Headwear Co.’s slogan is DO BETTER and that’s what we are trying to achieve.

For the love of golf, the humans that play, and the humans that don’t.

Provisional: arranged or existing for the present, possibly to be changed later.

Everything in life is provisional; let’s make it better.
